August 5th is Outreach Sunday!
We are continually striving to be the “Church” to our community. It is our desire to consistently and strategically foster relationships with leaders and organizations right where we live by serving them and tangibly showing them the love of Christ. Outreach Sunday is a day full of opportunities for all ages to serve. Please consider the different opportunities that are available and sign up on your bulletin insert on Sunday, or contact the church office to be included on a team. We will be offering a pizza lunch to all participants (excluding venues where lunch is provided) following the morning service @ 12 PM. All ministries will begin @ 1 PM. We will not be having the regular Sunday evening service to allow for these ministry opportunities.
Join us as we share the love of Jesus in our community!
Kalamazoo Gospel Mission: We will be arriving near the conclusion of Sunday dinner. Some will help finish serving, others will assist in clean-up as well as organization in the food storage area. All will be blessed as we serve those who are serving those in need in our community.
Leaders: Mike & Dottie Burchard (Team size 15-20, must be 12 years old)
Portage Central High School: Do you like gardening? We will be working in the high school garden alongside the high school principal. A little bit of hard work will be a great encouragement. Gloves and garden tools will be helpful. Lunch will also be provided by the high school.
Leaders: Joe Koopsen & Fusion (Team size 15-20)
Alternatives of Kalamazoo: Alternatives promotes the value of human life by serving and counseling families. We will be painting a fence, as well as sign and parking lot maintenance. A small team will also be working in the clothes bank.
Leaders: Phil & Becky Dorton (Team size 15-20)
StoryPoint Senior Living: We have been invited for a picnic lunch with the people of StoryPoint. It will be a very relaxing time of eating and talking with many different people. Kids are especially welcome as they are a tremendous encouragement to the residents. (Inside dining will be made available in case of rain)
Leaders: George & Karyn Joshua
Haverhill Elementary School: We will be assisting the Haverhill principal in maintaining the two courtyards used by the students for various classroom activities. Hedge trimming, grass cutting, mulching and weed pulling will make for an exciting ministry! Please bring gloves, rakes, and even a wheelbarrow, if you have one!
Leader: Mike Getsinger (Team size 15-20)
Prayer Walk @ Crossroads Mall: The team will meet in the food court and spend about an hour walking through the mall praying for the needs of people that we see. It is our goal to more clearly see the needs of our community through the lens of prayer.
Leaders: Pastor Jim & Karen Galvin
Not able to attend? Desserts are needed for the picnic at StoryPoint. Make your favorite dessert, label and leave it in the church kitchen by August 5th. We will make sure it is given to our friends at StoryPoint. (Disposable pans make things easy!)
