| Have
You Received God's Gift of Eternal Life? |
| God
offers to mankind the gift of Eternal Life. |
John
3:16 |
"For
God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten
Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish
but have everlasting life." |
| However,
mankind does not have this gift because our sins
have separated us from God. |
Romans
3:23 |
"For
all have sinned and fall short of the glory of
God" |
| Isaiah
59:2 |
"But
your iniquities have separated you from your God;
And your sins have hidden His face from you, So
that He will not hear." |
| Besides
separating us from God, sin brings about terrible
consequences in our lives. It results in Death
and Judgment. |
Romans
6:23 |
"For
the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God
is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord."
|
| Hebrews
9:27 |
"And
as it is appointed for men to die once, but after
this the judgment," |
| What
is even more upsetting is that we cannot do anything
about our separation from God. We could never
be good enough to earn His gift of Eternal Life.
|
Ephesians
2:8-9 |
"For
by grace you have been saved through faith, and
that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God
not of works, lest anyone should boast."
|
| Titus
3:5 |
"
not by works of righteousness which we have done,
but according to His mercy He saved us, through
the washing of regeneration and renewing of the
Holy Spirit," |
| However,
God knew that we were separated from Him and could
not earn His gift of Eternal Life so He did something
about it. He sent His only Son, Jesus Christ,
into the world to pay the penalty for our sins.
|
Romans
5:8 |
"But
God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that
while we were still sinners, Christ died for us."
|
| 1
Peter 3:18 |
"For
Christ also suffered once for sins, the just for
the unjust, that He might bring us to God, being
put to death in the flesh but made alive by the
Spirit," |
| Our
Response is to personally apply to our lives what
Jesus has done for us. We do this by praying to
God and repenting of our sins. We ask God to forgive
us of our sins because of what Jesus did for us
by dying on the cross. We then personally receive
Christ as our Savior, depending on Him and His
death on the cross alone, to gain our access to
the gift of Eternal Life. |
John
1:12 |
"But
as many as received Him, to them He gave the right
to become children of God, to those who believe
in His name:" |
| Romans
10:9-10 |
"that
if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus
and believe in your heart that God has raised
Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with
the heart one believes unto righteousness, and
with the mouth confession is made unto salvation."
|
| When
we receive God's gift of Eternal Life by receiving
Christ as our Savior, God promises to remove from
us the curse of Death and Judgment. |
John
5:24 |
"Most
assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word
and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting
life, and shall not come into judgment, but has
passed from death into life." |
