Nursery

Berean Baptist Church offers a fully-staffed nursery for infants and one-year-olds during Sunday School, AM & PM church services, and Wednesday night family ministry. All nursery workers are members of Berean, and the rooms are staffed at a 1:3 ratio in the infant nursery and 1:4 in the toddler nursery. We also offer a room for nursing mothers behind the infant nursery room.

We have a team of nursery check-in staff who each week greet families and bring the babies & toddlers to the nursery rooms. At check-in, parents are asked to fill out a name tag with information about their child as well as where the parents will be, and given a pager in case the child needs a parent. At check-out, the check-in staff will put the diaper bags in the hall by the nursery and bring the children to their parents as they arrive. For safety & security purposes, children will only be released to parents unless other arrangements have made.

Snacks are offered during each hour and are generally limited to the nursery-provided options: Cheerios & puffs in the infant nursery; animal crackers & Rice Chex (gluten-free) in the toddler nursery.

Our sick child policy: Any child with a fever higher than 100 within the last 24 hours, non-clear nasal discharge or non-asthmatic excessive cough will not be allowed in the nursery. We follow the CDC guidelines for determining when a child may re-enter the nursery.

If you have any questions about the nursery, please contact Jessica Van Dyke or Lisa Prudhomme.

Music

The annual Sunday School Christmas program is in early December and features a 45-minute Christmas musical. All children in kindergarten through fifth grade learn the songs during Sunday School and sing in the choir. Drama rehearsals begin in mid-September on Sunday nights during the PM service for those interested in solos & speaking parts. The SS Christmas program also features songs & verses from the 2s, 3s, 4s & 5s classes, and a “parade” of the babies & toddlers.

There is also an annual 45-minute summer musical for children who in the previous school year completed kindergarten through fifth grade. Rehearsals begin in May on Wednesday nights and continue through the summer until the presentation in late August. Preschool-age (3-5) children also present a short program of songs.

Examples of previously presented musicals include: Hans Bronson’s Gold Medal Mission, Captain Noah & the One & Only Zoo Cruise for Twos, The Agape League, Back to the Manger, The Christmas County Spelling Bee, We Three Spies. —->Here are some pictures of past events.

We invite any children regardless of previous musical experience to join us! Please contact Jessica Van Dyke if you have any questions!

At Berean we do everything we can to keep provide a safe environment for our children and students. Safe Haven Policy is to define requirements and behavior for workers who are involved with children and students at Berean Baptist Church. You can read about it here.
